Boston on Thursday that they've done only once in their history.
The Isles are 29-40-21 in their next game following a win
against the Rangers. Only one of the 29 came in the situation
that they face tomorrow night: win a game ON THE ROAD after
beating the Rangers at MSG.
On February 1, 1978, the Islanders beat the Rangers 7-6 at the
Garden (in a game that Chico Resch was thrown out late in the
third period).
The next night, the Isles went into Atlanta, and beat the Flames
5-2 (Bob Lorimer's first NHL goal; fellow rookie Mike Bossy
scored # 36),
In their history, the Isles are 6-18-10 in the game following a
win at MSG. The other five wins all came at the Coliseum.
Their most recent win, however, was in the back-half of the
home-home against the Rangers in October 2005.
The last time that the Islanders beat anyone other than the
Rangers in the next game after winning a game at MSG came 20
years ago this week:
