With the win today, the Isles have 63 points in 60 games -- three points fewer than they had last season. In terms of playoffs, their basically in the same position they were last season at this point -- right on the fringe.
Last season, the 66 points put them in a three way tie for 8th place with (you guessed it), Montreal and Toronto.
This season, the 63 points puts them in 10th place, just one point behind Boston and Buffalo.
Note that the Rangers sat three points behind the Isles at this point last season ... both the Islanders and Rangers would make the playoffs.
Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick. Eric has worked the Stanley Cup Finals four times, and celebrated his 26th anniversary as the statistician on Islander home telecasts on January 21, 2008.
