The Baby Isles

With the trades of Guerin and Comrie, the banishment of Sim, the injuries to Park, Weight and Sillinger, and the suspension of Witt, the Isles are a muh different team than the one that opened the season at The Rock in October.  Only 10 of the 18 skaters and 1 of the 2 goales dressed last night dressed on opening night:

Check out these numbers for the players that dressed that night vs. those that dressed against the Rangers last night.

Average age:  Then 28.8
(20 man roster) Now 25.9

The roster (excluding goalies) on opening night had played in 5,975 games and had 990 goals and 1983 assists for 2973 points.

The roster (excluding goalies) last night had played in 3,119 games and had 433 goals and 747 assists for 1180 points.  Nearly one-third of the games, and over one-third of the goals and points belong to Dean McAmmond, the oldest player dressed last night (178-246-424 in 921 games prior to last night).

After McAmmond, Trent Hunter has the most goals of the Isles who dressed (87), while Andy Hilbert was third with 41.

The Baby Isles dressed only 4 players who were born when Bob Nystrom scored "The Goal":  McAmmond, Martinek, Streit and Joey McDonald.

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since 1982.
