The Pens win in Tampa on Tuesday (and the Panther loss in Philly) clinched a playoff spot for the Penguins. This means that the Isles are now assured of a 4th round pick for Bill Guerin (instead of Tampa's 5th round pick, which they would have received had Pittsburgh missed the playoffs.). It will become a third round pick if the Penguins win their first round playoff series and Guerin plays in at least half of the 1st round games.
Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since 1982.
