Re: Easter Isles

Quick clarification:

The Isles have played twice before at home on Easter Sunday -- neither was planned.  The Isles lost at home to the Rangers on April 16 1995 in the Isles' first appearance on "The NHL on Fox".  (The Isles only played six games on Fox in the five years that the network had the contract. Five of those games were against the Rangers.)  That was the lockout season.

Subject: Easter Isles

For a team that has two extra-ordinary games on Easter, (winning early Easter morning after Washington in 1987 and being poke-checked by Dubie into the playoffs at NJ in 2007), the Isles' home record on Easter Sunday is nothing special.

In fact, Sunday will mark the first ever scheduled Easter Sunday game at the Coliseum.  Face-off for the season finale is at 5:00.  In 1978, the Isles beat Minnesota 6-3 on Easter Sunday, but that was a make-up for a February snowout.  (That game btw was the only Sunday regular season home game the Isles played between 1973 and 1990.)

The Isles lost last season in Philly on Easter Sunday.  Prior to the Dubie miracle, the Isles hadn't played on Easter Sunday since 1995.

The Isles have played nine regular season road games on Easter Sunday, going 3-5-1.  In their only playoff games that were played entirely on Easter Sunday, the Isles lost game 4 in Edmonton in 1981 and game 4 in Pittsburgh in 1982.
