Bob Lawrence, RIP

It is with deep regret I announce that Bob Lawrence, former WGBB Pogram Director and Station Manager from 1965-1980, as well as one of the former play-by-play voices of the NY Islanders during their Stanley Cup Days, passed away this afternoon around 1:3opm after a brave battle against lung cancer.Bob had recently attended the WGBB reunion and had one last chance to spend some quality time with many of his radio companions. We will all miss him. Our condolences to his wife Rebecca and family. I will post funeral arrangements when they are known.

Robert L. Lindstrom (Bob Lawrence)
(October 5, 1938 - June 12, 2009)
Robert L. Lindstrom, 70, of Williamstown, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on
June 12, 2009. Born in Quincy, IL, he grew up in York, PA and lived in Islip
Long Island, NY before moving to Williamstown 10 years ago. Mr. Lindstrom was a
radio broadcaster for many stations before retiring. He was a hockey announcer
for the New York Islander's with John Sterling, who is presently the radio
voice of the New York Yankees. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of
Hammonton, where he served as a deacon and lector. Beloved husband of Rebecca
Lindstrom (nee Johnson). Devoted father of Eric Lindstrom (Cathy) and Wendy
Becker (Mark). He was pre-deceased by his children's mother Maryann Lindstrom.
Dear step father of the late Paul Sparta. Dear brother of Marlene Kerr (Bill),
Daniel Lindstrom and the late Allan Lindstrom (Rose). Dear brother in law of
Wayne Johnson (Alice). Loving grandfather of Courtney Becker, Tracy Becker and
Rachelle Lindstrom. Dear uncle of Sarah Johnson, Bjorn Johnson (Cindy), Chris
Lindstrom (Tonya), Todd Lindstrom, Wayde Lindstrom and Robin Blair (Andrew),
Paul Lindstrom, Scott Lindstrom, Kevin Lindstrom and Amy Lindstrom. Relatives
and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am at
the Presbyterian Church of Hammonton, 326 Bellvue Ave., Hammonton, where a
memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow in the
Williamstown Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to
the Hammonton Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1066, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
