1-4-4

This is the third time that the Isles have opened a season 1-4-4 (although the first since "loser points" were awarded).

The Isles were also 1-4-4 in 1973-74 (Al Arbour and Denis Potvin's first season) and in 1996-97.

In the four previous seasons since the NHL eliminated ties, the Isles earned their fourth loser point in games 54,44,40, and 36 respectively. In the five seasons before that (the only other seasons with loser points), the Isles had no more than four loser points in any season.

This is the first time in Islander history that hey have allowed two overtime goals in the first nine games of the season, and the second time that they've allowed two overtime goals in October.  In October 1988, the Isles lost in overtime to Los Angeles (Steve Duchesne)  and Quebec (Tommy Albelin).
