DENVER – Colorado Avalanche left wing Darcy Tucker has been hospitalized for further evaluation after taking a hit from the Carolina Hurricanes' Tuomo Ruutu at 5:26 of the second period in Friday night's game at the Pepsi Center.
The Avalanche reported that Tucker, who was knocked out by the hit, had regained consciousness and was fully alert.
Ruutu was assessed a major boarding penalty and game misconduct. Tucker fell on his back and lay on the ice for several minutes before he was immobilized on a stretcher board and taken by ambulance to the hospital. He was able to move his right arm as he was taken off.
