The Isles 3-0 lead against Philly on Thursday came in just 7:45 of play. It was their earliest 3-0 lead since October 20, 2005, when Miro Satan, Jason Blake and Mark Parrish all scored in the first 2:47 of a 5-4 win over the Rangers.
The Isles are now 5-1 in their last six at home. They have scored 24 goals in those six games. Since the turn of the calendar, the Isles have scored 66 goals in 20 home games (3.3 per game; 13-6-1 record). They scored only 44 goals in 19 home games (9-8-2) in the 2009 portion of the home schedule.
... and one more from me.
The Isles have spent their fans to Wendy's for 6 consecutive home games by scoring at least three goals in each. It's the first time since Dec 2003 that the Isles have scored three goals in at least six consecutive home games. In December 2003, they did so in seven straight home games; Garth Snow was the winning goalie in each of the last 6.
Anaheim's late-night shoot-out win over Los Angeles means that the Ducks will finish ahead of the Isles. If Isles (76 points) miss the playoffs, they can finish higher than only Dallas (84), Minnesota (80), Columbus (77) and Edmonton (56).
At close of play Saturday, Isles are in 25th place (tied with Carolina in wins and points, but with one additional game to play), which would be the 6th seed going into the April 13th draft lottery.
