Cizikas makes TEAM CANADA; Coach Cameron

According to Mississauga.com, Islander prospect Casey Cizikas has been selected
to Team Canada for the World Jr. Championships that begin next week. Cizikas
certainly helped his cause by scoring the winning goal in last night's red/white
scrimmage. Cizikas was selected by the Isles with the 92nd pick in 2009 after a
much-publicized accident led to a manslaughter conviction.

Cizikas, 19, has 16 goals and 20 assists in 28 games this season. He will be
coached by Dave Cameron, who is also his coach with the Mississauga St.
Michael's Majors.

If the name Dave Cameron sounds familiar to Islander fans, it should.

Cameron was an Islander draft pick, selected 135th overall in a generally
forgettable 1978 draft for the Isles (Steve Tambellini was the only player the
Isles drafted that year that later played a significant role in the NHL).

Three years later, Cameron was part of one of Bill Torrey's genius trades.
Torrey sent Cameron and defensemen Bob Lorimer to Colorado in October 1981. His
compensation: Colorado (by then,New Jersey)'s first pick, third overall in
1983. The Isles used that pick to select Pat Lafontaine.
