Snow and a Rare Sunday Home Game

The Isles are entertaining Montreal tonight in only the 57th Sunday home game of
their 38 season history.

Most of these games have been afternoon games; of the four Sunday games the
Isles will play this season, tonight marks the only night game.

The Isles played two Sunday home games in 1973 (one in January and one in
December); they then played only one other Sunday night home game until 1990.
That game was played on March 26, 1978 -- the Isles defeated Minnesota 6-3 on
Easter Sunday. (Yes, the holidays were early that year) The ironic portion of
that -- the game was originally scheduled to be played on February 7, 1978 --
but became the first home game in Isles history to be postponed due to a
blizzard.

The Isles have had only five games in their postponed due to weather -- none
since 1993.

SCHEDULED PLAYED LOCATION SCORE REASON
Dec. 26, 1975 Feb. 6, 1976 Detroit L 4-3 Snow
Feb. 7, 1978 Mar. 26, 1978 NYI (vs. Minn.) W 6-3 Snow
Dec. 31, 1978 Jan. 22, 1979 Chicago W 2-1 Snow
Jan. 21, 1979 Feb. 14, 1979 Buffalo L 2-1 Snow
Mar. 13, 1993 Mar. 14, 1993 NYI (vs. Pitt.) L 3-2 Snow

The Isles were originally scheduled to play Washington on March 14, 1993, but
since Pittsburgh was in town and the Capitals were not, the Isles faced
Pittsburgh. The Isles-Caps game was played on March 25th.

This will be the second straight December that the Isles have hosted a blizzard
game against Montreal. The Canadiens blanked the Isles under similar
circumstances last December 19.
