Jack Capuano had his interim tag removed today and now is officially the Head Coach of the Islanders.
Capuano becomes the 4th coach in team history to take over the team at mid-season and coach again the following season.
The others are: Al Arbour (the 2nd time -- replaced Terry Simpson), Rick Bowness (replaced Mike Milbury), and Mike Milbury (2nd time -- replaced Rick Bowness, who had replaced him).
After a 1-8-2 start under Capuano, the Isles went 25-21-8 the rest of the way.
From December 16-March 12, the Isles went 22-14-6 in a 42-game span. Their 50 points in that span was the most in the Eastern Conference.
