Congratulations Doug Weight

The retiring Islander captain was honored with the King Clancy Memorial Award at the NHL Awards tonight. The award honors the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution
in his community.

He is the 2nd player to be so honored as an Islander; Bryan Trottier won the award in 1989.  Another former Islander, Trevor Linden, has also won the award, but he won in 1997, before he was traded to the Islanders.
