It looks like Eric Nystrom will not be with the Wild on Columbus Day at the Coliseum after all. While the dynasty child escaped a suspension for his pre-season hit on Taylor Fedun, the Wild have asked for waivers on him and intend to send him to the AHL if he clears at Noon ET tomorrow.

Minnesota Wild waive Eric Nystrom
Updated: 10/06/2011 10:18:53 AM CDT
The Minnesota Wild placed veteran center Eric Nystrom on waivers today for the purpose of sending him to Houston of the American Hockey League.
If another team doesn't claim Nystrom by 11 a.m. Friday, he can be sent to the Aeros.
Nystrom, 28, had been expected to play on Minnesota's fourth line with Colton Gillies and Brad Staubitz. The forward became expendable when the Wild acquired forward Nick Johnson on waivers from Pittsburgh last week and decided to keep rookie Brett Bulmer on the roster.>>
