From the Canadian Press:
<<EDMONTON -- Edmonton city council has approved a deal to fund a new rink for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, but still needs to find the final $100 million.
Councillors have voted 10-3 on a cost-shared deal with team owner Daryl Katz (KAETZ') to build a $450-million arena downtown.
The majority of the money is to come from city taxpayers and a ticket surcharge.
Katz will pay $100 million over 35 years.
The city wants the provincial and federal governments to pay the remaining $100 million, but both have said they won't directly fund private enterprises.
Alberta Premier Alison Redford has said the city can, if it wishes, use provincial infrastructure money already allocated to it.>>
