So with Kevin Poulin back in town, one wonders is Montoya not ready to go or is there something else? The Isles are tweeting that all three goalies (including Nabakov) are practicing today.
After missing the first 1 1/2 months, Rakhshani is 9-16-25 and a sterling +19 in 27 games for Bridgeport this season. He has been a plus player in each of the Sound Tigers' last seven games, and hasn't had a "minus" game since December 11th. He has been playing right wing on the team's #!1 line, alongside AHL All-Star Casey Cizikas.
Poulin is 13-12-1 (2.78, .907) for the Sound Tigers. After a terrible start, Poulin was 6-0-1 with a 1.52 GAA and a .949 save percentage this month with Bridgeport -- a period that was interrupted by a recall to the Islanders. Poulin faced Nashville on January 16th, allowed 3 first period goals but settled down from there in a 3-2 loss to the Preds.Poulin stopped 81 of 87 shots in weekend wins in Glens Falls (Adirondack) and Syracuse as the Sound Tigers, 10-0-0-1 in their last 11, took over first place in their division. In the win in Adirondack, Poulin stopped 51 of 53 shots, falling just short of Wade Dubielewicz' club records (in different games) of 52 saves and 55 shots. (Dubi, by the way celebrates a birthday today -- he's 33, as is Trevor Gillies.)
