With Doan getting his hat trick, defenseman Larry Murphy, who scored 287 goals and had 28 two-goal games in a 21-season NHL career that ended in 2001 has more career goals/hat tricks of players who never recorded a hit.

The active leaders among no-hat-trick players are Brad Richards (235 goals) and Pavel Datsyuk (26 two-goal games).
