Leafs 4, Isles 3 (OT)
PA Parenteau scored an unassisted goal off a fluke bounce to tie the game with 13 seconds to play but Clarke MacArthur scored the winning goal at 2:06 of overtime and Jonas Gustavsson made 29 saves as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Isles 4-3 in front of 10,888 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The overtime loss drops the Isles ten points out of 8th place at the All-Star Break.

The Skinny:
John Tavares recorded 20 goals for the third consecutive season. Bailey's shorthanded goal was his second in four games; he had only one in his career prior to last week. Mikhail Grabovski's three assists matched his career high. Jake Gardiner's goal was his first in the NHL (42nd game). Ron Wilson coached his 1,386th NHL game, tying Mike Keenan for 5th place on the all-time list.
The Shots
The Isles outshot Toronto 8-4 in the first period and 12-5 in the third. Each team had ten shots in the second period and two shots in overtime. For the game, the Isles outshot Toronto 32-21. The Leafs would have had more shots on goal had the Islanders not blocked a season-high 30 shots.
Home and Road
The Islanders are 19-22-7 overall and are 11-11-4 at home. The Isles are 5-2-1 over their last eight on Coliseum ice.
The Leafs are 25-19-5 overall and 11-1-1 on the road.
In the Nets
Al Montoya made 17 saves in his first appearance since being injured in Winnipeg on December 20th. He is 6-5-4 on the season.
Jonas Gustvasson made 29 saves for Toronto as he improved to 16-10-0.

John Tavares has 49 points (20-29-49) on 110112 Islander goals this season (44%). No Islander since Zigmund Palffy has recorded points on over 40% of the team's goals in a complete season.
Power Plays
The Islanders did not have a power play for the second straight game and third time this season; the Leafs were 0-2 and allowed Bailey's shorthanded goal.. The Isles entered the game 6th in the league with the extra man. The Isles are 3-11 in the last five games on the power play and 9-33 in the last 13 games on the power play.
The Isles have killed 16-16 over the last seven games, 36-37 (97.3%) over the last 15 games and 40-42 (95.2%) over the last 19 games, dating back to December 16th. While the Isles have not allowed a power play goal against in seven games, Toronto has not allowed a power play goal in 2012, killing 16 opponent power plays. The Leafs have been shorthanded one time or less in seven of those 11 games.

Andrew MacDonald led the Isles with 23:37; Dion Phaneuf led all players with 30:35. Both players led their teams in both games of the back-to-back.

Matt Moulson is the first Islander since Jason Blake (4 seasons: 2002-03 to 2006-07) to have at least three consecutive 20-goal seasons. He is eight goals away from a third consecutive 30-goal season; no Islander since Ziggy Palffy has accomplished that feat. Moulson has 83 goals as an Islander – the most by any Islander since the lockout.

Tavares' goal gives him 20 goals on the season, marking the first time that the Islanders have had the same two players (Moulson and Tavares) record at least twenty goals in three straight seasons since Mark Parrish and Jason Blake did so in 2002-03, 2003-04, and 2005-06.
Ironmen
Matt Moulson, the Isles' reigning ironman, has played in all 212 games since joining the team. Moulson's streak is the longest for an Islander since Richard Park played in 221 games from October 2006- February 2009. Travis Hamonic has now played 110 NHL games (all consecutive); he has the longest consecutive game streak on defense for the Isles.

Season Series Stats
The Leafs lead the season series three games to none (and six points to one). The teams will complete the season series in Toronto on March 20th. The Isles are 2-4-1 in the last seven against Toronto, but have not beaten Toronto in regulation since March 14, 2010. Happy Anniversary
31 years ago tonight (1-24-81): One word: Bossy. Mike Bossy scored his 49th and 50th goal in the final five minutes of the Islanders' 50th game of the season, joining Maurice Richard in the exclusive 50 in 50 club as the Islanders defeated Quebec 7-4.
All-time, the Isles are 9-6-3 on this date, having gone 0-2-1 since Rick DiPietro shutout Atlanta in 2004.
On The Farm
Bridgeport continues to be RED HOT. The Sound Tigers have won eight straight and improved to 20-17-3-1 with a 2-1 win in Adirondack on Saturday. Casey Cizikas scored his 10th goal and Anders Nilsson made 37 saves for his fourth straight win. The Sound Tigers will look to tie the club record of 9, set in 2002 and equaled in 2003 when they host St. John's Wednesday; the hot streak has moved them within two points of first-place in the AHL Northeast Division.

Following a week off for the All-Star Break, the Islanders return to action as they begin a two-game road trip in Carolina. It's the third meeting of the month (and season) with the Islanders having won both of the prior match-ups, once in overtime and once in a shootout. The Islanders will be looking for their first regulation win over Carolina since January 22, 2008; the Canes are 10-0-4 vs. the Isles since then.
