Leading after 2

(Does not include Wednesday's games)

Two NHL teams have led a game 34 times after 2 periods: St. Louis and Philadelphia.  Both teams are 30-2-2 when leading after 2 periods.  No other team had led more than 30 times.

The Isles have led after 2 periods 24 times (15-1-8).  That's only one fewer time than Pittsburgh (25: 23-0-2) and three more times than Washington (21).

The Caps are one of two teams that have been perfect when they lead after 2 periods.  Washington is 21-0-0; Boston is even better: 25-0-0.

So while many people have pointed to the lack of offense -- the inability to protect a lead has been a much, much bigger issue.
