If you use the Nets as an example, the Isles upcoming move to Brooklyn could have a big impact on television ratings.
Nets ratings on YES are up a ridiculous 262% this season (in English, this means that they have more than tripled).
Now there are many other factors -- including the NHL lockout and the fact that the Nets are a much better team than they were a year ago -- but this certainly shows that they are getting more attention. The Nets' 1.1 local rating still ranks in the bottom 5 in the NBA.(although their average audience size ranks just out of the top 5).
Despite the NHL lockout, NBA ratings in some other joint NBA/NHL markets are down significantly, with Boston and Phoenix showing the largest decrease.
