He will be put on waivers at noon ET today and will be assigned to Bridgeport after clearing at noon ET tomorrow.
Given his salary and recent play, one would assume that there is zero chance that he would be claimed.
Under the new CBA, teams are still responsible for most ofa players' cap hit in the minors. In DiPietro's case, it is $3.6million this year (prorated).
DiPietro is 0-3-0, with a 4.09 GAA and an 85.5 save percentage this season.
Kevin Poulin is expected to replace DiPietro on the active roster. Bridgeport plays tonight in Springfield;Mike Fornabaio reported moments ago that Poulin was first off the ice in the morning skate.y
