Some stats are Skinny -- others are just insane.

If the Isles can beat Florida on Saturday, they would be 8-4-1 on the road.

It would be the first time since they ended the 2001-02 season with a road record of  21-15-3-2 that the Isles would be at least 4 games over .500 on the road at any point in a season.  (Their current 7-4-1 road mark (they were also 6-3-1) is the latest that they have been 3 games over .500 on the road since January 25, 2003, when they had 25 points in the first 22 road games.

To put 8-4-1 in perspective (IF they win Saturday):

-- 17 road points would equal the most of any of the Cup teams had in the first 13 road games.

17 in 2001-02

and with a win on Saturday --> 17 in 2001-02

If the Isles win on Saturday they will be over NHL-.500 in the second-half of a season for the first time since they were 23-22-8 in the 2009-10 season. (They were in the midst of a seven-game losing streak dropped them from 3-games over to 4-games under that season.)

Finally, I mentioned in The Skinny last night that all 4 of Nabokov's shutouts have been on the road.  Elias noted this morning: " That's one more road shutout than all other Islanders goaltenders combined have recorded over the last eight seasons (two by Rick DiPietro and one by Joey MacDonald)."  

And there have been a lot of goaltenders in that span!
