From the Columbus Dispatch on last night's pre-shootout delay:

BTW-- wouldn't a second 5-minute overtime have taken less time and had more drama?
"-- Strange incident between overtime and the shootout. Blue Jackets associate coach Craig Hartsburg - a sage veteran - alerted NHL officials that the Zamboni driver had neglected (intentionally or otherwise) to clear a patch of ice in the Islanders end of the rink, where Blue Jackets' shooters would be approaching Nabokov during the shootout. Two Blue Jackets players suggested that both benches pointed it out to officials, but when the driver came back on to the surface (to boos, I might add) he was clearly more miffed at the Jackets' bench, chirping them as he drove past.
-- Here's Jack Johnson on the Zamboni hijinks: "There was a pile of snow down at their end. They put a pile down on one end, so if you turned right – like Cam did – you fell into a snow bank. Looked like he was just doing it for the first time."
