RJ Umberger deflected a James Wisniewski shot for the winning goal as Columbus broke a 2-2 tie early in the third period and defeated the Isles 5-2 before a crowd of 13,949 at Nationwide Arena. The win snaps a five-game Blue Jacket losing streak, while the Isles suffer their third straight defeat.

The Skinny:
Nielsen's goal was the Isles' first in 114:47…Thomas Hickey's goal was his second career goal; his other goal was an overtime winner in Montreal in February…Eric Boulton now has two assists in three games this season… The Isles have scored 24 of their 47 goals in the second period, but have been outscored 15-10 in the third period… The Isles allowed two more power play goals and have now allowed 14 goals in 54 times short (74.1%)…RJ Umberger is now 14-10-24 in 29 games against the Isles; his goal was the first scored in the opening minute of any period of an Islander game this season…James Wisniewski's empty net goal was his team-leading 13th point; it was the second EN goal allowed by the Isles this season….Former Ranger Brandon Dubinsky tied a career high with three points; he had done it eight previous times, all as a Blueshirt.
The Injury:
The Isles played almost the entire game with 17 skaters as Thomas Vanek suffered an upper body injury on his first shift and did not return.

Home and Road
The Islanders are 6-8-3 overall, 3-3-3 at home and 3-5-0 on the road. The Isles are 0-3-0 on this road trip after winning two straight games to begin the month.
The Blue Jackets also 6-10-0 overall; they are 4-6-0 at home and 2-4-0 on the road.
In the Nets
Evgeni Nabokov made 24 saves but falls to 5-5-3 on the season. Nabokov allowed at least four goals in his third straight appearance for the first time since March, 2012.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 24 saves for the Blue Jackets and improves to 5-8-0 on the season. Bobrovsky is 9-1-0 in his career against the Isles.
Power Plays
The Islanders were 0-1 while the Blue Jackets were 2-4. After scoring a power play goal in five straight games, the Isles have been held without a power play goal in their last seven games (22 chances). Columbus had scored only one power play goal in their prior five games, all losses (1-13, 7.7%).

27 years ago tonight: November 9, 1986. Tomas Jonsson scored twice as the Islanders rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Sabres 4-3 in Buffalo. Steve Konroyd then scored the tying goal late in the second before Mike Bossy potted the winner in the third.
Overall the Islanders are now 6-7-0 on this date.
On The Farm
Ryan Strome scored his fourth goal of the season with 2:59 to play to earn the Sound Tigers a point but Bridgeport dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to Hershey; the Bears won a 10-round shootout by a 6-5 score. Bridgeport is 3-5-1-1 on the season and return home to host Adirondack at 3:00 on Sunday.

The Isles are 5-6-1 in their last 12 games in Montreal, starting with a loss on March 13, 2007 in a game in which Rick DiPietro was forced from the game after a collision with Steve Begin, however all five Isles wins in that stretch have come in extra time (three times in shootouts, twice in overtime), leaving Les Habitants 7-0-5 in those 12 games.
