The Skinny:
Casey Cizikas had his career-best five game point streak (3-2-5) stopped … John Tavares has points in eight of the last nine games and has scored in two straight games; both Tavares and Thomas Vanek have three game point streaks... Isles have scored 36 of their 67 goals in the second period, but have been outscored 27-15 in the third period… The Isles have been outscored 20-6 in the third period of the last 15 games… The Jets scored three goals in a period for the first time on the road this season… The Isles are 4-9-0 in November, with two games to play. The Isles have not had a winning November since 2008 and are 9-23-5 in their last three Novembers (2010, 2011, and 2013)…This was the 16th time in the last 19 years that the Isles have hosted a Thanksgiving Eve game (there was no NHL hockey played in two of the other three years). Happy Anniversary
20 years ago today: November 27, 1993. Steve Thomas scored three goals for his sixth career hat trick and Ron Hextall made 37 as the Islanders beat the Rangers 6-4 at the Coliseum. Referee Tom Monahan assessed 122 penalty minutes, including 64 against the Islanders.
Overall, the Isles are 8-8-4 on this date, including two ties in which Islanders recorded hat tricks (Mike Bossy vs. Minnesota in 1985 and Mariusz Czerkawski vs. Washington in 2001).
On The Farm
Bridgeport suffered three one-goal losses last weekend, including two in shootouts as they fell to 4-9-1-3 on the season. The Sound Tigers have another three games in three days weekend upcoming as they host Hartford on Friday, visit Albany Saturday and return home to host Manchester on Sunday.
Mike Halmo leads Bridgeport with seven goals; Ryan Strome leads in both assists (15) and points (19). Strome leads all AHL rookies in assists and is 2nd in points.

The Red Wings return to the Coliseum for the second time in less than two weeks to face the Isles in a Black Friday matinee. The Isles won a back-and-forth game 5-4 on November 16th in a shootout.
The Isles will carry a 10 year and 1 day point streak against Detroit into the game; the Isles are 6-0-1 against the Wings since losing to Detroit on November 28, 2003 (also Black Friday) and have won five straight vs. Detroit for the first time since a 7-game win streak from October 16, 1980 - February 6, 1982.
This is the eighth time since 2001 that the Isles have hosted a game on Black Friday; they are 4-3-0 in the prior seven. Overall, the Isles are 8-9-2 in Black Friday games.
