According to Mike Fornabaio, Ryan Strome is still in Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers have an 11am ET game against Albany today. Strome will not play in this morning's AHL game.
It would thus appear that he would not play in tonight's game in San Jose either.
The Isles will be looking to break their 10-game road losing streak (0-10-0) and 10-game overall winless streak (0-8-2) when they face the Sharks. It's only the 2nd time in Isles history that they will enter a game with a chance to break a road losing streak and an overall winless streak, each of 10 games or more. On January 18, 1973, the Isles went into Boston having gone 0-13-0 in their previous 13 road games and 0-12-0 in their previous 12 overall. They beat the Bruins 9-7 that night in a memorable game, recapped here: http://www.nyiskinny.com/2011/10/isles-40-in-40-36.html
The Isles also need a victory (or at least an overtime point) to avoid falling two games under NHL .500 for the first time since losing to Cleveland 5-3 on January 11, 1978 in their first game after trading JP Parise and Jean Potvin to the Barons (4-time Cup winner Wayne Merrick and future NHL GM Darcy Regier came to the Isles in return). The Isles would follow that loss with a 6-game winning streak, and have not been two games under NHL-.500 since. Six times over the last two seasons the Isles have been one game under, and they have gone 5-0-1 in those six games.
