Cam Fowler's shorthanded goal broke a 2-2 tie in the final minute of the second period as the Anaheim Ducks rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to defeat the Islanders 5-2 before a crowd of 14,830 at Honda Center. The loss extends the Islanders' winless streak to ten straight games (0-8-2) and is their tenth straight loss on the road.

The Skinny:
John Tavares' goal was the Isles' first in 101:18 and ended his first two-game pointless streak of the season; he has a point on five of the last seven Isles goals...The Isles have allowed ten goals in the 20th minute of the period (they have scored six)… Corey Perry's goals extended his goal-scoring streak to six games and his point streak to eight games; Ryan Getzlaf assisted on Perry's first goal, extending his point streak to 12…Perry now has scored at least 20 goals in each of the last five 82-game seasons.. The Isles are 2-13-2 in their last 17 games and have been shutout three times in that stretch …Isles have been outscored 36-17 in the third period, including 29-8 in the last 21 games … The Isles have been outscored 41-16 during their ten-game winless streak, which is their longest winless streak since they had a 14-game streak from October 23-November 24, 2010 (0-11-3)… The Isles have allowed at least three goals in a period seven times in the last 12 games.

Home and Road
The Islanders are 8-18-5 overall, 5-6-5 at home and 3-12-0 on the road. The Isles drop to 10 games under NHL-.500 for the first time since the famed fight game against Pittsburgh (February 11, 2011) raised their record to 19-29-7. The Isles have lost ten straight games on the road for the first time since a franchise-record 15 games streak from January 20- March 31, 1973.
The Ducks are 21-7-5 overall; they are 11-0-2 at home and 10-7-3 on the road. The Ducks are 4-0-2 in their last six games. The Ducks become the second team in the shootout era (San Jose 20-0-2 in 2008-09) to open the season with points in their first thirteen home games.
In the Nets
Anders Nilsson made 26 saves but falls to 0-2-2 on the season.
Jonas Hiller made 35 saves to improve to 11-4-4 on the season.
Power Plays
The Islanders were 1-4 while the Ducks were 1-2. The Isles also allowed their third shorthanded goal of the season (all in the last six games) and their first shorthanded goal on the road since February 3, 2012 in Ottawa.

Missing Men
Lubomir Visnovsky, Brian Strait and Evgeni Nabokov remain on injured reserve. Brock Nelson replaced Peter Regin returned to the lineup, replacing Pierre-Marc Bouchard who has been placed on waivers; Radek Martinek and Eric Boulton were scratched for the fourth straight game. The Isles have lost 72 games this season due to injury.
Nobody Beats the Viz
The Isles were 19-12-4 last season and are 3-3-2 this season with Lubomir Visnovsky in the lineup. They were 5-5-3 last season and are 5-15-3 this season without him in the lineup.

Happy Anniversary
35 years ago tonight: December 9, 1978. Bryan Trottier and Mike Bossy each scored a goal and added an assist and Chico Resch made 27 saves as the Isles beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Clark Gillies assisted on both the Trottier and the Bossy tally.
Overall, the Isles are 4-13-1 on this date, having lost all eight road games since that 1978 win in Toronto.
On The Farm
Ryan Strome became only the third player to win consecutive AHL Player of the Week Awards in the 20-year history of the Award, joining Jim Carey (1994) and Blake Geoffrion (2011). Strome had a seven point weekend (2-5-7) and points on eight of Bridgeport's 10 goals during the week.
Bridgeport has won four straight games, and is now 9-10-1-3 on the season. The Sound Tigers host Albany at 11:00 AM on Tuesday.
Anders Lee leads Bridgeport with ten goals; Ryan Strome leads both the team and the AHL in both assists (24) and points (33).

The 5-game in eight day road trip continues on Tuesday in San Jose as the Isles visit the Sharks for the first time in 23 months.
The Isles are winless in both their last four games against the Sharks (0-2-2 since a comeback victory on President's Day 2008) and their last four trips to San Jose (0-3-1 since Garth Snow blanked the Sharks 3-0 on February 19, 2003).
