We already have an extra-large Skinny with all the strange (and good) things that have happened to the Isles over the last few days. If you missed it, it is here: http://www.nyiskinny.com/2014/01/the-skinny-isles-5-boston-3.html
But wait, there's more....
First from the Elias Geniuses:
A First For The Islanders
From Elias: The Islanders overcame a 3-1 deficit in their 5-3 win at Boston on New Year's Eve, after surmounting a 3-0 deficit in their 5-4 victory at Minnesota on Sunday night. It's the first time in franchise history that the Islanders have won consecutive games, both on the road, while overcoming a deficit of two goals or more in each game. The only other NHL team to record a two-game winning streak of that kind over the last three seasons is the Ducks, who did so a little over a week ago (Dec. 21 at Islanders, Dec. 23 at Washington).
4-Point Night For Tavares
From Elias: John Tavares tallied two goals and two assists in the Islanders' 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the Bruins. It was the seventh time that Tavares scored four or more points in one game in his five-year NHL career. That's more than twice as many such performances as all other players combined for the Islanders over the last five seasons (three: two by Matt Moulson and one by Josh Bailey).

(With the change in divisions, only the 8 current Metropolitan Division teams would have a chance)
....and Finally from Me:
....and Finally from Me:
Only 4 NHL players have more 4-point games since Tavares entered the NHL: Sidney Crosby/Ryan Getzlaf (11), Niklas Backstrom/Evgeni Malkin (9). JT is one of 4 players that have seven 4-point games in that span (Jason Spezza, Steven Stamkos, Marian Gaborik).
Kyle Okposo has recorded consecutive three-point games for the first time in his career.
The Isles scored five goals (non-shootout) in Boston for the first time since a 5-4 win on January 11, 2012.
The Isles scored at least three power play goals (let alone four) against the Bruins for the first time since March 1, 1998. (They hadn't scored 3 in Boston in at least 25 years, nor had they scored four power play goals total against the Bruins in that span.)
