Hamonic sidelined, ending consecutive game streak

Travis Hamonic will not play against the Panthers tonight.

Hamonic did not play in the third period on Sunday; he is "day-to-day" with an "upper body injury".

Hamonic's absence ends his consecutive game streak at 117 games; his entire NHL career to this point has been played in two lengthy consecutive games stretches (8th and 9th among all Islander defenders)

Travis Hamonic is the only defenseman in Islander history with two streaks in which he played at least 100 consecutive games. Those are two of only 11 streaks of at least 100 consecutive games by a defenseman in Islander history:

Frans Nielsen is the Islanders' reigning ironman.  He has played 177 consecutive games, and is one of five Islanders to have played in every game this season.  Other ironman streaks: Andrew Mac Donald (148), Travis Hamonic (117), Matt Martin (108), and Thomas Hickey (48). 

(Note that MacDonald's total has been corrected; he now has the 4th longest streak among Islander defensemen, and the longest since McCabe's 220 game streak in the late 1990s)
