Taylor Hall scored his 4th career overtime goal with 2:31 to play in the extra session as the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 overtime victory over the Isles before the customary sellout crowd of 16,839 at Rexall Place in Edmonton. It's the Isles first loss in seven OT/SO games on the road this season and came in the first game played by the Islanders since trading Thomas Vanek to Montreal just before the NHL trade deadline.

The Skinny:
This was only the fourth time all season that the Isles led a road game after two periods (2-1-1)…The Isles are 11-6-3 with Ryan Strome in the lineup…The Isles are 15-16-1 on the road and are 11-3-1 in their last 15 road games; the 23 points in the last 15 road games is just one fewer than the club record for points in a 15-game road span in a single season… The Isles are 10-9 in OT/SO, including 4-5 when the game is decided in overtime… The Isles had won all six road games that have gone beyond sixty minutes this season (2-0 in OT, 4-0 in SO); it's the first time in franchise history the Isles had ever won six straight road OT/SO games…Taylor Hall (4) joins Ryan Smyth (5) as the only Oilers with at least four OT goals…Smyth's power play goal was his 126th as an Oiler, tying Glenn Anderson's franchise record…The Isles now have 8 SH goals (Clutterbuck 3, Grabner 3, Nielsen 2); only Carolina (9) has more; Nielsen's 11 career SH goals ties Michael Grabner for the lead among active Islanders; Anders Kallur holds the franchise record with 19…It's only Edmonton's 4th win when trailing after 2 period (4-30-2).

Ben Scrivens made 32 saves for Edmonton as he improves to 12-9-4 on the season. He is 5-4-0 for the Oilers. It's the second time this season that Scrivens has defeated the Isles in a game that his team trailed 2-0 after 2 periods (November 14th for Los Angeles).
Power Plays
The Islanders were 0-4 while Edmonton was 1-4, allowing a shorthanded goal to the Isles.

The Isles are now 6-7-1 in the front-end and 5-6-2 on the back end of back-to-backs this season. The Isles have swept three back-to-backs: November 1st/2nd vs. Ottawa and Boston; January 6th/7th vs. Dallas and Toronto and January 20th/21st vs. Philadelphia and the Rangers.

Season Series Stats
The teams split the season series 1 game each (The Isles earned 3 points to Edmonton's 2).
This was only the second regular season game between the teams to be decided by an overtime goal and Edmonton has won both of them (Glenn Anderson 11/11/86). However, the Isles own a playoff overtime win over Edmonton (Ken Morrow in game 4 of quarter-finals in 1981).
The Isles are 9-3-1 in the last 13 games overall between the teams but have not won in Edmonton since March 13, 2003 when Garth Snow backstopped the Isles to a 5-2 win, going 0-3-1 since.
This was the Isles' first trip to Edmonton since January 6, 2011 when the Oilers defeated the Isles 2-1.
Happy Anniversary
37 years ago today (March 6, 1977): Four years before he was traded to the Colorado Rockies, Chico Resch made 27 saves to become the only Islander goalie to ever blank the Rockies, defeating New Jersey 5-0 at McNicholls Sports Arena in Denver.
All-time, the Isles are 8-9-4 on this date, having gone 0-6-3 since beating Buffalo in 1998.
On The Farm
Bridgeport is 26-26-1-4 on the season and begin a two-game series in St. John's (Newfoundland) against the Ice Caps on Friday.

The Isles conclude their Alberta visit as they head to Calgary to battle the Flames. Puck drop is 9:28pm following a ceremony honoring former Flames star Joe Nieuwendyk.
David Jones scored the winning goal with 5:32 to play in a 4-2 Flames win back on February 6th. Despite the loss, the Isles are 5-2-0 in the last seven games against Calgary.
This is the Isles' first trip to Calgary since January 3, 2011 when the Isles defeated Calgary 5-2. Rick DiPietro earned the win, although it was Nathan Lawson who played most of the game following a DiPietro injury.
