It Happened at the Coliseum … on OCTOBER 6th

7 years ago tonight (2007): The Isles have also played only once at home on this date, and it happened in 2007. Mike Comrie scored two third period goals (both of which were set-up by Ruslan Fedotenko and Bill Guerin) to break a 1-1 tie as the Islanders defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2. The two goals gave Comrie 4 goals in two games (both against Buffalo)to begin the season.

Chris Campoli had the other goal for the Islanders, who also got 29 saves from Rick DiPietro, including 16 in the third period. It was the Isles' 4th straight win in a home opener and raised their record to 2-0-0 for the first time since 2001.

"Our line has been given a role to work hard and score goals. We've done that. But it's two games. I think I'm on pace for 328 points", said Comrie.  It was actually only 246.  Comrie would finish the season with 49 points in 76 games.

All-time, the Isles played one October 6th game at the Coliseum, and finish with a 1-0-0 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
