tonight (2005): The Isles played their first home game in 18 months, and
defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2.
Jason Blake,
Miro Satan and Shawn Bates scored for the Islanders; Eric Staal scored the
game’s first and last goals for the Canes.
Rick DiPietro
made 42 saves for the Islanders, including 16 in the first period.
Also on this
date: (2013) John Tavares scored twice as the Islanders pounded the Phoenix Coyotes
6-1 for their most one-sided Coliseum win in 32 months.
