It Happened at the Coliseum … on NOVEMBER 12th

That's Tommy Soderstrom on the left and Salo on the right.
16 years ago tonight (1998): Tommy Salo made 21 saves as the Isles blanked Montreal 4-0 at the Coliseum.  Barry Richter gave the Isles a 1-0 lead with his first goal as an Islander; Mariusz Czerkawski, who would go on to score 21 goals on the season, scored his first two goals of the campaign after starting the season with 14 games without a goal. It was the 4th shutout of the season for Salo.  The Isles would go 15 ½ years without another shutout against Montreal, ending the streak on April 10, 2014 at the Bell Centre behind Evgeni Nabokov.

Might be my only chance to show Barry Richter

After Mike Milbury made Salo cry at an arbitration hearing,
he went on to set the Oiler franchise record with 23 shutouts

Also on this date: (2013) – John Tavares and Frans Nielsen each had two points as the Isles defeated Nashville 3-1, snapping a 4-game losing streak.

All-time, the Isles have played eight November 12th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 3-4-1 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
