It Happened at the Coliseum … on NOVEMBER 19th

37 years ago tonight (1977) – In one of the more lopsided wins in Coliseum history, the Isles built a 5-0 lead before the game was 14 minutes old and went on to a 9-2 laugher over Vancouver.

Clark Gillies and rookie Mike Bossy each scored twice for the Isles; Bossy’s pair gave him a league-leading 16 goals on the season.  Bryan Trottier had five points (1-4-5), raising his league-leading total to 34 points.

Overall the Isles recorded 6 goals and 10 assists in the first period, setting a then-team record with 16 scoring points in a single session.

Billy Smith stopped Ron Sedlbauer on a penalty shot.  It was the first opposing penalty shot in a regular season game in Coliseum history.

Also on this date: (1985) – Mike Bossy scored two goals and added three assists as the Islanders beat Philadelphia 8-6, snapping the Flyers' 13-game win streak.

All-time, the Isles have played six November 19th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 5-1-0 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
