13 years ago tonight (2001) – Mark Parrish recorded the hat trick and added an assist as the Islanders extended their win streak to four straight games with a 5-3 victory over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The victory kept the Isles in first place in the Atlantic Division.
With the game tied 1-1 nearing the midway point of the second period, Parrish and Michael Peca scored 21 seconds apart to break the deadlock. Parrish would then add a shorthanded goal – the only shorthanded tally of his 722 game NHL career. He would later complete his second hat trick of the season.
