tonight (1998) – In one of Tommy Salo’s finest moments as an Islander, the
Isles were outshot by Philadelphia 46-14 yet sent the Thanksgiving Eve crowd
home happy with a 4-2 win over the Flyers. The win extended the Isles’ home
unbeaten streak over the Flyers to seven games (6-0-1).

broke a 2-2 tie with 8:03 to play with a power play tally for the game-winner;
Sergei Nemchinov added an empty-netter to seal the win. Trevor Linden and Robert Reichel each had two
assists for the Isles, who netted three power play goals as they raised their
record to 10-11-0.

coach/GM Mike Milbury told the NY Times’ Steve Popper: “Our goaltender was
outstanding and our power play did the trick… I thought Salo was the best
player on either team tonight.”
Also on this
date: (1986) – Kelly Hrudey made 30 saves and the Isles supported him with
goals from five different players as they improved to 9-3-0 at the Coliseum
with a 5-1 win over Pittsburgh.
All-time, the
Isles have played eleven November 25th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 3-7-1
record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
