tonight (1988) – Eighteen months earlier, it had taken Pat Lafontaine until the
middle of the night to score an overtime goal to beat Washington. On this night, it took just 10 seconds; Patty
scored the winner in the shortest overtime game in Islander history as the Isles
beat the Caps 4-3. Bryan Trottier, David
Volek and Randy Wood had the other goals for the Isles as they earned a split
of the home-and-home series.
