Cappy moving up in NY seniority

With the Jets parting ways with Rex Ryan today, Jack Capuano is now the third-longest tenured coach (manager) in the New York area.

Of the nine New York head coaches/managers, only Tom Coughlin (1/6/2004) and Joe Girardi (10/30/2007) were appointed before Capuano (11/15/2010), who assumed his role with the Islanders eight days before Terry Collins (11/23/2010) became the manager of the Mets.

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since January 21, 1982. Visit my blog: NYISkinny.com and follow me on Twitter @ehornick
