It Happened at the Coliseum … on DECEMBER 8th



3 years ago tonight (2011) - Patrick Sharp scored his second goal of the game for the overtime winner as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Islanders 3-2.  With the overtime loss, the Islanders extended their point streak to six straight games (4-0-2). 
Trailing 2-0, the Isles rallied to force overtime on goals by Travis Hamonic and Michael Grabner; Marian Hossa had Chicago’s other goal – it was his 400th NHL goal.

Here are the highlights:


PA Parenteau commented after the game: "We've come a long way since three weeks ago. We're playing as a team. We're desperate out there. We battled back from a two-goal deficit against probably one of the best teams in the league."

Also on this date: (1984) – Greg Malone, whose son Ryan would later become an Islander nemesis, scored at 4:27 of overtime as Hartford beat the Isles 4-3.  If was only the 2nd Whaler win in their first nine visits to Long Island.

All-time, the Isles have played four December 8th games at the Coliseum and finish with a 0-3-1 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
