The geniuses at Elias noted that Tavares is the first Islander since Pat LaFontaine (3/11/89, also vs. New Jersey) to score the tying goal in the last 10 minutes and then net the winner in overtime.
However, LaFontaine's big night was at the Coliseum. In fact, no Islander had ever done what Tavares did last night -- scored the tying goal in a regular season ROAD game in the last 10 minutes and then win it overtime.
And that's worth a Yes, Yes, Yes!
