It Happened at the Coliseum … on FEBRUARY 21st

7 years ago tonight (2008) – Miroslav Satan scored the only goal of the game at 5:37 of the third period and Rick DiPietro made it stand up for his third shutout of the season as the Isles blanked Tampa Bay 1-0.

Sean Bergenheim and Rico Fata earned assists on the Satan goal; it was the only assist of Fata’s NHL career.

It was the Isles 6th straight win; they have not won six straight games in a single season since. The Isles also extended their point streak to seven games (6-0-1).

"It was a great play by [Bergenheim]," Satan told Newsday’s Greg Logan. "He basically tied up two guys and then did a spin-a-rama and gave me the puck. I was flying full speed, so it was pretty easy for me to use my speed and set up the shot. I had enough time to look at him and kind of freeze him and pick the spot."

Tampa had a shot to tie when Vincent Lecavalier blistered a shot over DiPietro's glove, however the puck hit the left post and bounced into the crease behind Di Pietro, where he laid on it.

"He hit me in the back," DiPietro said. "I was fortunate."

Here are the highlights from Sun Sports.  Rick Peckham and Bobby "The Chief" Taylor are on the call.

Also on this date: (2009) – Yann Danis made 40 saves and became the first Islander other than Rick DiPietro to record a shutout since 2003 as the Isles blanked New Jersey 4-0.

Here are the highlights with Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe.

All-time, the Isles have played fourteen February 21st games at the Coliseum and finish with a 8-6-0 record on this date at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale.
