One More Memory for the Old Barn

A note to Isles fans from Patty's foundation:

Dear Eric,

I was truly honored to be asked by the New York Islanders to come back to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum last night to make one more special memory. I was joined by my buddy, Clinton Brown III at center ice as we dropped the puck between John Tavares and Mikko Koivu of the Minnesota Wild. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=759601&navid=nhl:topheads

Clinton represented all of the great fans who have filled the Old Barn through more than four decades, and helped inspire those many Islander teams to achieve beyond most expectations. I first met Clinton when he was very young, recovering from some of his 20+ surgeries, and a fixture at our team practices at Cantiague Park. We would sit in his living room in Hicksville playing Nintendo and just becoming good friends. In hindsight, those visits served as an inspiration, many years later, to start the Companions in Courage Foundation.

As I soaked in the atmosphere of the Coliseum last night, I was reminded of so many stories of my years in the building. That's why I am so looking forward to seeing our friends at the Toast to the Coliseum (www.ColiseumToast.com) on Friday, April 10th at Chateau Briand in Carle Place. Mike Bossy, Bob Nystrom and Rick DiPietro are among the alumni slated to represent all four Islanders decades, joining me and Steve Webb for an unforgettable night. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/24/sports/hockey/islanders-invite-pat-lafontaine-to-bid-farewell-to-nassau-coliseum.html?_r=0 Please don't delay in ordering your tickets. We can't wait to see you, and to make some more great memories!

Yours in courage,
Pat LaFontaine
