Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin each scored a goal and added two assists as the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Isles 4-1 before a sellout crowd of 21,392 at United Center. Trevor vanRiemsdyk recorded his first NHL goal for the Hawks; Cal Clutterbuck broke the shutout with a shorthanded goal at 18:55 of the third.

JF Berube made 30 saves in his Islander debut…  The Isles are 12-23-8 all-time in road openers; their loss tonight snapped a 3-game win streak in road openers… Kane has seven goals in ten career games vs. the Isles…John Tavares was assessed 12 penalty minutes in the third period (including a game misconduct), giving him a career high 14 penalty minutes for the game…Cal Clutterbuck’s goal was his 12^th career shorthanded goal (6^th as an Islander)…The Blackhawks have sold out 331 consecutive home games…The Isles did not 

lead at any point in either game this weekend.
