As you know, the NHL is trying a new 3-on-3 format for the All-Star Game - dividing into 4 teams (by division) and then having divisions play in a semi-final round with the "winners" advancing to the final.
The NHL is still allowing the fans to vote on the players -- and the leading vote getter in each division will be named Captain.
This is producing similar issues to last year when Zemgus Girgensons of Latvia was the leading vote getter, apparently because his entire country voted for him multiple times.
John Scott, who cleared waivers prior to Christmas, remains the overall leader.
In the Metropolitan Division, the top 2 vote getters are currently Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. In third place (just ahead of Henrik Lundqvist) is an Islander ... by the name of Mikhail Grabovski. John Tavares sits 5th in the division; Nikolay Kulemin is 6th.
The leading Devil has to be Cory Schnieder, right? Ok, maybe Kyle Palmieri. Nope -- it's Bobby Farnham.
Voting ends New Year's Day at 11:59:59pm. (Their time, not mine)
