When the Islanders moved their home games to Brooklyn this year, one thought that emerged was that the Isles would return to a major NYC-area station.
That thought has proven correct for the playoffs, as it was announced today that the Isles first round series with Florida will air on WFAN or WCBS.
Games 1-2, 4, 5 (if necessary) and 7 (if necessary) will air on WCBS-880.
Game 3, including a 2-hour pre-game with Boomer Esiason and Chris Moore, will air on WFAN 660 AM/101.9 FM.
The radio location for Game 6 (if necessary) will be dependent on the starting time for that game, as the Yankees (who play at 1pm that afternoon) take priority on WFAN.
While a handful of games have aired on New York City stations in recent years (including WFAN, WCBS and ESPN98.7), this will be the first Islander playoff series that has aired on a powerful New York City station since WBBR (1130) carried the Islanders for three seasons, including the 2007 Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals.
Chris King and Greg Picker will have the call on the games.
Unless game 6 is selected to air on NBC (Channel 4), all games in the first round will be televised locally on MSG+ (with most games also airing on MSG as well). National feeds in the first round are blacked out in the NY-area.
