Eastern Conference First Round Game 3
Isles 4, Florida 3 (OT) (Isles lead series 2-1)
The first playoff game at Barclays will be one that will be long remembered. Thomas Hickey scored the game-winning goal 12:31 into overtime as the Isles rallied from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to defeat the Florida Panthers 4-3 in the third game of their Eastern Conference First Round Playoff Series before a sellout crowd of 15,795 at Barclays Center.
Florida appeared to have taken a 3-0 lead just over 4 minutes into the second period but a Coach's Challenge showed that the Panthers were offside, reversing the goal.
Reilly Smith figured in the scoring on all three Panther goals; he now has eight points (4-4-8) on Florida's ten goals in the series.
Game 4 of the series is Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

The Skinny

Three Firsts

What a Youngster
Ryan Pulock (21 years, 194 days) is the youngest Islander defenseman to score a goal since Wayne McBean (21 years, 51 days) did so against the Rangers on April 13, 1990.
A First for Howie
Howie Rose has been the TV voice of the Islanders since 1995; this was the first Islander playoff OT goal he has ever called. "Centering feed…Hickey…he scores!!!! Thomas Hickey with the winner."

Point Per Game Man
John Tavares now has 17 points in 16 career playoff games; he is the only Islander other than Mike Bossy (1.24 points per game) to play more than one playoff game for the Isles and average over one point per game. (Bryan Trottier had 170 points in 175 games, falling just shy of 1.00.)
With 7 goals in those 16 games, only Bossy (.66), Ray Ferraro (.64) and Steve Thomas (.45) have averaged more goals per playoff game as an Islander than Tavares (.44) [Minimum 5 goals]
