Josh Bailey scored 54 seconds into overtime as the Islanders recorded their first win of the young season, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 before a sellout crowd of 15,795 at Barclays Center.
 
Ryan Getzlaf had scored with exactly 1 minute to play to tie the game as Anaheim rallied from a 2-0 deficit before Bailey tallied his 4th career overtime goal.

Brock Nelson scored for the second time this season; Nelson now has 11 goals and 12 assists in 31 October games…John Tavares recorded his first point of the season with his 208th career goal…The Isles had not led at any point in their first two games before leading most of the way tonight; Anaheim has not had a lead at any point in their three games this season…The Isles improve to 26-12-6 in home openers, including 1-0-1 since moving to Barclays Center…Jaroslav Halak recorded his 201st career win (his 200th win came in the game in which he suffered a season-ending injury last March…The Isles improve to 13-0-2 all-time at Barclays Center against Western Conference opponents…Jason Chimera recorded his first assist/point as an Islander…A defenseman assisted on all three Islander goals.  The Isles defense has combined for 6 points (1-5-6) on the seven goals the team has scored this season…The Isles held Anaheim without a shot on goal in the first 14:21 and had a 28-5 shot attempt advantage in the first period.

The homestand continues as the Isles host the Western Conference Champion San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.  The Isles will be catching the Sharks on the back-end of a back-to-back as San Jose will face the Rangers on Monday.
 
The Isles swept the season series last year, winning 6-3 in Brooklyn and 4-2 in San Jose.  The Isles will be looking for their third straight win over the Sharks for the first time since winning four straight from 1992-1994.
