Patrick Marleau scored the winning goal with 23 seconds to play, just 35 seconds after Nick Leddy had tied the game as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Islanders 3-2 before a sellout crowd of 17,562 at SAP Center at San Jose.
The Islanders finish their California swing with a 1-2-0 record, allowing the winning goal in the final minutes of each of the two losses.

The Skinny
Nick Leddy had points on both goals, giving the Isles defense 15 goals and 29 assists this season… The Isles scored the first goal for the first time in five games...Anders Lee, playing his 200th NHL game, scored on his first shot, giving him three goals on consecutive shots dating back to the third period on Wednesday. Lee's "hat trick" came in 19:32 of playing time…Lee has three goals in two games for the since time since April 11-13, 2014…The Isles are 2-5-4 in November… The Sharks scored a pair of goals 34 seconds apart in the second period…It was the first time since March 3, 2016 (in Winnipeg) that the Isles scored a 6th attacker goal; the Isles won that game on a Kyle Okposo OT goal…The Isles have been held to two goals or less (not including shootout winners) in 7 straight games – the longest streak since a 9-game streak in November/December 2013…Kevin Labanc's assist was his 1st in the NHL…John Tavares' assist on the 6th attacker goal was his 3rd in the last four games, but he has gone 9 games without a goal.
The Penalty Shot
Thomas Greiss stopped Joe Thornton on a penalty shot at 13:04 of the 1st period. It was the 11th penalty shot in the NHL this season; 5 of the 11 have been successful. This was the first penalty shot in an Islander game this season.
All-time Islander goalies have stopped 37 of 51 opponent penalty shots, including nine straight. The last opponent to score vs. the Islanders was Los Angeles' Dustin Brown, who scored against Dwayne Roloson on November 13, 2010 -- the final game Scott Gordon served as head coach.

The Islanders return home to face the Calgary Flames in the first of a 2-game homestand.
The Isles have swept the Flames in each of the last two seasons (4-0-0); Jaroslav Halak has been in goal for all four victories, allowing just three goals.
The teams will conclude their season series on March 5th in Calgary.
