Tampa Bay 4, Isles 0
JT Brown and Ryan Callahan scored 42 seconds apart late in the first period as the Tampa Bay Lightning broke open a scoreless game and went on to blank the Isles 4-0 before a crowd of 12,498 on Military Appreciation Night at Barclays Center.
 
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves to record his third career shutout.

The Skinny
Scott Mayfield was involved in his 3rd fight in 12 career NHL games…The Isles are winless in 3 games (0-1-2) and have only one win in their last five home games (1-2-2)…Both of JT Brown's goals have come against the Isles; four of Nikita Kucherov's six goals are also against the Isles…Tampa outscored the Isles 7-0 in the first period of the three games; the Lightning have 4 first period goals in their other 13 games…Tampa Bay has alternated losses and wins in their last 8 games…The Isles have 13 points in the first 16 games; it's the first time since 2012-13 (a playoff year) that the Isles have had only 13 points in 16 games… Since acquiring him from the Rangers, Tampa Bay is 31-5-2 when Ryan Callahan scores a goal…It's the first time this season that the Isles have been shut out.

The Isles dressed seven defensemen for the first time since April 7, 2012, when Mark Streit, Steve Staios, Travis Hamonic, Matt Donovan, Dylan Reese, Andrew MacDonald and Milan Jurcina all dressed in a season-ending 7-3 loss to Columbus.  They had used six defensemen in 309 consecutive regular season games.

Three is a Magic Number
The Isles are 5-1-1 when they score at least three goals (including shootout winners) and are 0-7-2 when they do not.  The Isles were 37-4-2 when they scored at least three goals (including SO winners) last season.

One Goal Games
The Isles are 2-3-3 in games decided by a single goal including 1-3-0 in regulation. They are 1-1 in games decided in overtime and are 0-2 in shootouts.  The Isles are 0-0 in games in which an empty-net goal turns a 1 goal game into a 2-goal game.

First Goal

Second to The One
Jack Capuano, the 2nd winningest coach in Islander history, is 215-183-59 behind the Islander bench.  Among the 9 New York area teams, only the Yankees' Joe Girardi has led his team longer than Capuano.

Season Series Stats
Tampa Bay wins the season series three games to none (and six points to none), outscoring the Isles by a margin of 14-2. 
Tampa Bay led by a 3-0 score at some point of each game as they sweep the season series, all in regulation, for the first time since 1995 (also 0-3-0).
It's the 5th time that the Lightning have blanked the Isles and the first time since 2009.


On The Farm
The Sound Tigers are 8-4-0 after sweeping a pair of shootout games this past weekend.  Bridgeport is off until Friday, when they begin a 3-game in 3-day weekend on Friday in Wilkes Barre-Scranton before hosting Lehigh Valley on Saturday night and Binghamton at 5pm on Sunday.
 
Christopher Gibson has all six regulation time wins for the Sound Tigers (6-0-0, 2.52 GAA) while Bracken Kearns leads the team in scoring (5-7-12) and is tied with Michael dal Colle for the goal scoring lead (5).
