Mark Stone broke a 2-2 tie with a power play goal late in the second period and the Ottawa Senators added three third period goals (two into empty nets) and extended the Isles' winless streak to five games (0-4-1) with a 6-2 win over the Islanders before a crowd of 13,102 at Barclays Center.
Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier had scored earlier in the second period to tie the game for the Islanders; Lee now leads the team with 10 goals.

The Skinny:
The Isles allowed the first goal for only the 2nd time in the last 12 games … After allowing only 2 power play goals in a 12-game span, the Isles have allowed 8 power play goals in 15 times short over the past five games…Ottawa remains two points ahead of Boston for second place in the Atlantic; they are six points ahead of both Tampa Bay and Florida …The Isles are 0-8-1 when trailing after two periods…The Isles allowed two empty net goals for the first time since February 8, 2014; it's the 7th time since 1988 that has happened and a different goalie has been in nets each time…This was only the 5th time this season that the Isles were not at least tied at some point in the third period (Washington on 10/15, Tampa Bay 3x).. The Isles have been outscored 11-0 in the third period of the last five games; they were blanked in five straight third periods earlier this season, but allowed only 5 goals in that span…The Isles are winless in five games (0-4-1) for the first time since an 0-4-1 stretch January 23-31, 2014. Season Series Stats

On The Farm
Bridgeport allowed three goals in a 62 second span of the first period, recovered to tie the game 3-3 but eventually fell 5-3 to Syracuse on Saturday. It was the Sound Tigers' (16-11-0-0) fourth straight loss. Stephen Gionta, Ryan Pulock and Scott Mayfield scored for Bridgeport.
Bracken Kearns continues to lead Bridgeport in scoring (8-14-22), while Steve Bernier leads the team in goals with nine. Toews leads the team with 16 assists and is second on the team in points (4-16-20); fellow rookie Eamon McAdam leads the team with 7 wins (7-1-0).
Toews leads all AHL rookie defensemen with those 16 assists, and is tied for the AHL rookie defenseman lead with 20 points.
The Sound Tigers are off until they face Hartford on Boxing Day (December 26).
